The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300 kilomtere long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species. It is also in this Park that Col.Patterson had a tantalizing encounter with the maneless Man eating Lions during the construction of the Kenya-Ugandan Railway line- In his famous Novel one reader says ” But no lion story I have ever heard or read equals in its long-sustained and dramatic interest the story of the Tsavo man-eaters as told by Col. Patterson. A lion story is usually a tale of adventures, often very terrible and pathetic, which occupied but a few hours of one night; but the tale of the Tsavo man-eaters is an epic of terrible tragedies spread out over several months, and only at last brought to an end by the resource and determination of one man”.
All this can be summarized on a Day on the Man Eaters of Tsavo Safari!

Jacob organised a great one day safari at very short notice from Diani Beach up to Tsabo East. Our driver/guide Kevin did a fantastic job getting us to and from the National Park and then finding animals in the park. He had good knowledge of birds and wildlife. The vehicle was a comfortable Landrover with a poptop perfect for viewing and taking photos and great value for a personal tour for two. The lunch was fantastic and well above our expectations. Recommend this company.
